5 Summer Vacations without Leaving the U.S.
Whether you're on a budget for cash or time, sometimes, an international vacation just isn't in the cards for you. Fortunately, the United States is home to many glorious destinations, all within its national borders. You won't have trouble finding a destination that fits your budget, wants and needs.
Here are 5 summer vacations without leaving America:
Seattle, WA: Seattle has had a cultural revival, in the last few years, and its tourism is growing because of it. There are the classic destinations, such as Pike Place Market, but there are many new and old gems in the city to look out for. They have a great food, cocktail and craft beer scene, and the different characters of the neighborhoods are great to explore. Capitol Hill, Ballard, and Belltown all have great spots, depending on what you're into.
Chicago, IL: If food is your main concern, Chicago should be on your list of future destinations. With some of the best restaurants in the world located in the Windy City, it's no wonder foodies from all over flock to Chicago. Check out Lincoln Park, Millenium Park, as well as Grant Park to get your park fix. And don't forget to try their famous deep-dish pizza too.
Austin, TX: Deemed the live music capital of the world, Austin boasts a great cultural scene, focused on much more than just music. It's also one of the fastest growing American cities, for good reasons. Music lovers, foodies, comedy buffs, and nature lovers will all find great things to do in this city. There are lots of green spaces, bike paths, and swimming destinations to keep you busy.
Hilton Head, SC: If the beach is more of your jam, check out Hilton Head in South Carolina. Renting a house may be a better idea but keep in mind that it may be more expensive. Be very diligent when reviewing the rental agreement and go by a trusted rental agency. Once the logistics are taken care of, you'll be able to enjoy a large number of golf courses, natural amenities, as well as a ton of great restaurants.
Park City, UT: Looking for higher altitudes? Park City is a great place to go in the summer, as there are tons of affordable activities to partake in. There are hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails to explore, as well as hot-air balloons to float in. Perhaps you'll feel the legacy of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games; Park City is home to more Olympians per capita than any other town in the country.
