For member-based businesses, the number of members can make or break your organization. You have to think about the average membership cost per-member but, at the same time, there are many advantages to having many members. With social media, having exposure of your brand on that many feeds works really well to get your name out. On top of that, word-of-mouth is one of the best ways to get noticed in your community.
Here are 3 points to think about, when trying to attract groups as members:
Get Active
Being active in your community brings out awareness for you and your brand. Cross-promote with complimentary businesses, especially ones that have their own community or membership system. Groups have to be aware of your existence and your value, before they will join as members. Once people are aware of you, you can start promoting group rates.

Smart Promotions
Group discounts and promotions are a great way to get groups to join. There are a few ways you can approach this: you can give them a bulk discount rate, where they pay less per person than they would if they were to join alone, or you could provide incentives or perks, instead of a cash discount. Cash discounts are traditionally more attractive to groups but finding a way to incentivize utilizing other perks can work really well too.
Get Connected
Find people who have connections with larger organizations. Not only do these large organizations have people who would join as a group if marketed well, they also might pay for their employees to attend as a regular team building exercise. This makes it easier, as you only have to convince the organizer within the organization to participate and you will find a large number of people joining at once.
