Inspiring Excellence at CPRS 2018

As 1,800 park and recreation professionals gathered for the California Park & Recreation Society (CPRS) Conference, the Long Beach Convention Center was transformed into a hub for discovery, innovation, personal growth, and connectivity. Alongside thought-provoking keynotes, education sessions, an awards ceremony, and winners showcase, the 4-day conference served the interests of CPRS members with great depth. Delegates gained knowledge through full-day intensives and workshops on youth sports administration, aquatics programming, teen services training, park development and operations, and more. The addition of the emerging professionals development track, speed coaching sessions, recreation therapy institute, and a software learning community also provided delegates with highly interactive educational exchanges.

Xplor Recreation was honoured to speak at the CPRS Conference once again this year, with Farid Dordar, CEO, presenting on “Leadership Strategies to Build a Strong Team”. Attendees were challenged to ask and evaluate themselves – are you bringing out the leader in you to help your team perform optimally? With this critical question in mind, attendees engaged in a lively discussion as Farid demonstrated proven strategies to prime your team, empower them to perform their best, and deliver impactful leadership

Our Enterprise and Customer Success Teams were especially excited for the Expo, where we enjoyed catching up with our valued clients from the Cities of San Rafael, Santa Barbara, and Los Gatos. Account Manager, Tanya Zarin, and Steve Mason from the City of Walnut Creek were all smiles as they snapped a photo together!

Truly making the event memorable, CPRS played host to an incredible series of special events that included a tour of parks and recreation facilities in Orange County, a golf tournament, poker pub crawl, and even a coastal bike ride led by former Olympian Tony Cruz. As we celebrated CPRS’ 70th conference at the 1970s-inspired Disco Inferno party, the team was more than ready to let loose and show off their funkiest dance moves with fellow parks and recreation professionals.

Congratulations to Debbie Lopez, Management Analyst at the City of Glendora, who is the lucky winner of our Google Home and Google Chromecast draw prize! And thank you to the spirited attendees, exhibitors, and organizers, who bring this enriching event to life each year. We look forward to seeing you all again at the CPRS 2019 Conference in Sacramento!
