This year's MISA BC Fall Conference took place in Courtenay, September 19th through 22nd where attendees were able to appreciate the Comox Valley's natural beauty in full. The great weather was enough incentive to be out and about, also facilitating the smooth travel an hour north from Nanaimo's ferry terminal. Many attendees continued to spend their free time outdoors under the beaming sun throughout the next few days.
The 4-day conference covered the people, tools, and technology essential to the future of IT. Keynotes and learning sessions covered a range of topics from cloud security success and intelligent cities to data and the internet of things.
Xplor Recreation was happy to contribute to this year's event as a Silver Sponsor. In addition, Farid Dordar, CEO, presented on 3 ways to minimize risk when changing software. The talk focused on important factors to take into consideration, such as change implementation and management to best equip IT teams and their organizations for the most effective and efficient integrations.
Interacting with 75+ delegates we were delighted to touch base with the City of Port Alberni, City of Campbell River, City of Strathcona, and the District of Summerland. The multi-day event was full of diversity in location and activities taking place at the Sid Williams Theatre, Florence Filberg Centre, and Native Sons Hall. Outside of the conference sessions, attendees enjoyed delicious food and drink, making the best of the autumn beauty with a fun outdoor barbeque and daytime golf tournament. Most memorable yet, there was a mind-boggling magic act that left everyone scratching their heads!
Congratulations to Jeff Narver, Director of Infrastructure and Resources of Fraser Valley Regional Library, on winning our draw for an Apple TV- just in time for rainy nights in!
Thank you to MISA BC and everyone involved for a great conference!
